During the storm, water rescues, flooded roads, basements and a confirmed tornado kept emergency crews on the run. Christopher Vaccaro, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association/National Weather Service, headquartered in Maryland, confirmed that a “high-end EFO” rated tornado touched down about 8:20 p.m., Saturday, April 16, in York County. A EFO Fujita scale classification, means the tornado was estimated to obtain wind speeds of 65 to 85 mph – the smallest class of tornadoes.

J. L. Longaberger started his career a good apprentice basket maker in 1919 in the Dresden Basket Company which was located in Dresden, New mexico. During the Depression of the 1930s, the factory closed, but C. W. continued his craft in a home office. He and also his wife Bonnie Jean eventually saved enough money purchase the old building, and Longaberger baskets came into existence.
